Easter week

Happy Easter one and all! I know the festivities technically don't start until Friday, but for those of you who are planners like me, Easter planning started on Saturday night when I escaped to go grocery shopping. Ben stayed home with our sleeping munchkins so I could spend some focussed time at the groceria in our 'hood. I really wish food stores were called "grocerias". It would make everything related to grocery shopping that much more romantic and Italian. I heart Italy and all things Italian....I digress. Back to our Easter festivities.

On Good Friday, we will go to the 9:30 service at our church (The Meeting House - a place you should definitely check out), come home, and gorge ourselves on homemade hot cross buns, a new tradition (if they turn out). :) Two of our dearest peeps will join us in the afternoon for an Easter egg hunt (with only Mini Eggs of course) and other festivities (if it's sunny, we'll hit the park. If it's rainy, we'll decorate Easter sugar cookies). To end the day, we will have a meat fondue and cheese fondue, followed up with Snickers cheesecake. G.L.O.R.I.O.U.S. I hope you all don't think it's about the food. I'm really trying to change my outlook on food and view it as fuel for my body and it's systems. My body just requires some extra sugar and "extras" this coming weekend.

Saturday will be our Smith family day in Caledonia. Ben's sister and lovely hubbie, Brad, live here and Ro adores their kidlets (Ella Bella, Adie, and Easton). Ben's parents will be there, along with his older brother Brent, Sarah, and his girls (Kenny and Trin). It will be a chaotic blast! We're bringing not your ordinary green bean casserole. Can't wait to try this new recipe!

The Misener clan will finish up the weekend festivities in Ancaster at my parent's pad after church on Easter Sunday. There are 2 parks nearby, so we'll definitely hit them up (rain permitting). My bro, wife Jen, and kiddies Clark and Cole will be in attendance, along with my sis, husband Randy, and kidlet Zoey. Also joining us this year is my mom's sister, Pat and hubbie, Blair. We're bringing our carrot cake for those who aren't into carrot cake. SOOOOO good. This is one of my staple dessert recipes.

Speaking of recipes, last night we had a new one, blood orange chicken. VERY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED, even by Ro. I would have taken a picture of it, but I didn't garnish with green onions, so it wasn't very pretty. But boy, was it awesome!! You should really make this and soon!

Back to our Easter week.....I am mainly using this post as a place to compile my to do list. Here it is:
get eggs ready for annual hit off (hard boil, decorate)
prep Easter egg hunt
prep hot cross buns
bake hot cross buns
make sugar cookies
make Snickers cheesecake
make carrot cake
make green bean casserole

.....on top of every that normally gets done in a week (2 playdates, 2 doctor appointments, laundry, cleaning, FUN, playing, FUN (additions by my 3 year old)). Plus, I have to empty out our basement since we are having it finished (yay!!!). My current brain space is occupied with where are we going to put everything? Under my bed if now full, my third floor is full of toys, my kitchen is also a craft studio...Ma and Pa said we could take some stuff there (Christmas decorations, Ro's old toys and clothes for Vi, camping gear, etc.).

Ben's cuz, Tim, is going to do it and he wants to start next  Tuesday. No problem. I'll just add that to my list. I'll be blogging about our reno to keep you all up to date.

Well friends, I have to run. Laundry is in, have to leave for second doctor's appointment in 5 minutes. Keep well! Happy Easter! He is risen indeed!

Until I have crashed from my massive weekend sugar intake,
Tam
